How do I become a PADI Master Instructor?
To qualify as a Master Instructor you’ll need to have been an
Instructor for at least 2 years and have issued 10 EFR certifications,
15 Specialty diver certifications, 5 Divemaster’s and 5 Assistant
Instructors, also you’ll need to have attended 3 development seminars
or staffed 3 IDC’s. Our preparation program can help you achieve
these requirements, even if you haven’t been an Instructor for 2 years,
so when the time comes you can submit your application for the highest
Instructor rating in the PADI system of diver education.
This rating is awarded to experienced dive instructors as Master
Instructors have demonstrated a thorough understanding of the PADI
system of diver education and are members of the Master Instructor
Review Committee, which is called upon from time to time to review
changes and standards. Master Instructors need to meet prerequisites to
achieve the rating, which can be found in the PADI Instructor manual.
At the Utila Dive Centre we run a Master Instructor preparatory program
that will help you obtain the experience you need to achieve this
rating. The Master Instructor rating is a prerequisite for those dive
professionals wishing to become PADI Course Directors. The duration and
cost of the program will vary depending upon each candidates previous
instructional experience, please enquire for more information.
