Beautiful Oceans Science Diver/Instructor Courses |
Beautiful Oceans is an exciting new training organization, similar to PADI or DAN, however they are unique, distinctive and offer coral reef marine science courses and eco tour expeditions. Prior to 2006 if a scuba diver or professional wanted to learn more about marine biology they would have to enroll in a college program or join an expedition which could be expensive, time consuming, beyond the scope of their needs with excessive information, and existing environmental programs did not fulfill their needs.
The founders of Beautiful Oceans are marine biologists, from prestigious and world renowned McGill University, Canada, and have participated in numerous expeditions and conservation programs in the Caribbean, their knowledge and experience are unsurpassed and their programs reflect years of education, training and experience.
Beautiful Oceans programs are designed to help dive professionals better understand marine biology, ecology, species and ecosystems, and give them new skills which will make them more employable, knowledgeable and to provide better experiences that today’s diver and snorkeller seeks from their adventures.
The five coral reef biology courses that Beautiful Oceans offer cover;
Coral Reef Architecture & Organisms; Learn about the 4 indicators of coral reef zonation, how to identify the 6 different zones of a coral reef, key organisms that exist in each zone, and the different types of coral reef.
Coral Reef Ecosystem & Food Web; Learn about relationships on the reef, the connection between coral reefs, mangrove swamps and sea grass, the order of the food chain, and the major groups of coral reef organisms.
Biology of Corals; Learn about the origins of coral reefs, the life cycle of corals, why corals support so much life, and coral groups and families and how to identify them
Coral Reef Nekton – The Swimmers; Learn about fish biology, from surgeonfish to shark, how to identify different fish families and forms, the dinosaurs of the sea ‘reptiles’ and mammals like the beloved dolphins.
Marine Conservation; Learn about the value of coral reefs as a priceless ecosystem, coral reefs under threat, how science, diving and local communities can help, and the role of science divers and snorkellers.
The student materials are course manuals, well designed in layout, graphic rich and interactive, with submersible slates for the optional discovery dives. In addition to the student manuals Instructors have Instructor manuals, CD Roms for presentations, giant dive briefing slates and online support from the Beautiful Oceans team.
These programs are taught exclusively by Beautiful oceans Science Instructors and are open to all PADI Divemasters & Instructors to qualify, you do not need to have been a diver for 6 months to take a Beautiful Oceans Science Instructor, as all learning is designed to take place in the classroom with optional application on discovery dives in the water.
We run Beautiful Oceans Science Diver courses through the ‘Utila Centre for Marine Ecology’ on Utila and were the 1st, and currently only, Beautiful Oceans Science Instructor Development Centre in Honduras, and Central America.
We schedule Beautiful Oceans Science Diver/Instructor packages every month for our Divemasters and Instructors.
