IANTD Deep Air Course

If you’ve an interest in technical diving, then you’re probably familiar with Enriched Air - but what exactly is deep diving? Well, first you must set a limit for 'deep' - but that depends on the goals of the diver. For the purpose of training in this course, 'deep' is 130 feet/40 meters. However, just because you may have dived to these depths before does not mean there is nothing to learn from the IANTD Deep Air course!

There are a number of common reasons why divers are continuing to pursue this level of advanced diver training. Many who take the IANTD ‘Deep Air’ course are curious about technical diving, but just do not know (but would like to find out) what it will offer. Another reason many experienced recreational divers enroll is that they know they would like to enter the world of technical diving but need to learn the basics (and maybe even break some bad habits they have learned along the way).

For divers who have no desire at all to go on to technical diving, then this program will safely train you to dive in the range from 60ft/18mt to 130ft/40mt.

Prerequisites for the course are: minimum 18 years of age with an Advanced Open Water Diver certification from a recognized training agency, as well as a Nitrox diver certification from a recognized training agency with proof of 20 logged dives. The course is outlined as a two day program with about 6 hours of classroom and dive briefing.  Open Water training will include 4 dives to a maximum depth of 130 feet/40 meters while breathing air and using a Nitrox mix up to 40% for decompression.

During the course we will practice different decompression techniques for different diving environments. Double tanks and technical dive gear can be used for students who want to continue with technical diving, which we recommend. The maximum group size is 4 students per instructor. After completion and certification of this course, divers will be issued a certification card and be qualified to plan and safely execute dives to the limit of training while using different equipment configurations, air, and Nitrox.  Course is 3 days in duration.  The next step in IANTD advanced diver training is the Advanced Nitrox Course and Technical Diver Course.
