PADI Dolphin SCC Rebreather courses Diver & Instructor level

Have you ever wanted to go diving without most of those bubbles? Here's your chance to try it with the PADI Semiclosed Rebreather Dolphin/Atlantis Specialty course. This Specialty rebreather course introduces you to the Drager Dolphin/Atlantis semiclosed rebreathers.

Imagine experiencing the underwater world in near total silence, without the sound of bubbles as you exhale on each breath.  Imagine being able to get as close as you want to marine life due to the huge reduction in vented gas that typically scares off fish and other sea creatures. Imagine using a piece of equipment that actually hydrates you and keeps you warm during your dive. Imagine only needing a 4 litre tank, the size of a pony bottle, to last you over 140 minutes underwater. Well, rebreathers can make all of this happen.

What do I need to start?

  • PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification from another organization) OR PADI Open Water Diver certification (or qualifying certification from another organization) with proof of at least 10 logged dives beyond open water training dives
  • PADI Enriched Air Diver certification (or qualifying certification from another organization)
  • Minimum age: 15 years old

What will I do?
This Specialty course introduces the planning, organization, procedures, potential problems and hazards of semiclosed rebreather diving. It is specific to the features, accessories, maintenance and proper use of the Dolphin/Atlantis semiclosed rebreathers.

How long will it take?
2 days

At Utila Dive Center, you can become a Draeger Dolphin rebreather diver in a matter of two days. Rebreathers are the future of diving. The abundance of whalesharks and other pelagic aquatic life in this area makes it an ideal place for these units to maximize your experience with these creatures.

(If you’re also a PADI Instructor, then we can train you to teach the PADI Dolphin specialty class in another day by reviewing standards specific to the course and developing your ability to present the unique skills to diving with a rebreather. Your marketability as a dive professional increases when you can offer this program, as it is ideal for photographers, videographers or anyone who wants to try something different!)
